Introduction (Description of School/College/Dept/Program) | The College of Engineering & Applied Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee invites applications for an Academic Advisor position working with the Office of Student Services in the College of Engineering & Applied Science, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. This is a 2 FTE recruitment as the college is looking to fill two Academic Advisor positions. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is a doctoral/research intensive university, R1 in the Carnegie Classification, and is also Wisconsin’s premier public urban institution offering comprehensive professional, science, and liberal arts education at the undergraduate and graduate level to its 24,000 students. The College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS) is committed to excellence in scholarly research and teaching across all seven departments—Biomedical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Job Summary:
Engages students in decision making processes and promotes appropriate and responsible choices on academic matters such as admission, course selection and degree requirements. Maintains appropriate confidentiality, updates student advising records, and contributes to the development and delivery of academic advising related events and programs. Works to ensure students receive accurate, timely, and holistic advising services in support of promoting student success, retention, and program completion. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment. Duties Include:
Minimum salary for this position is $50,000/annual however, the final salary offer for the final candidate will be contingent upon the knowledge, skills, and abilities demonstrated throughout the screening process.
