Summary: UW-Stevens Point at Wausau has an opening for Adviser. The adviser is responsible for providing professional academic and career advising to new, continuing, and transfer students. There are additional direct responsibilities in the areas of financial aid, student accessibility, and recruitment and retention.
• Provide academic and career advising to all students so students can successfully
complete their academic curriculum. This includes identifying and offering assistance
strategies to at-risk and probation students to assist this student group in achieving
academic success. The professional adviser will guide students through the transfer
• The adviser will have working knowledge of federal and state financial aid to serve as
a first point of contact for students’ financial aid questions. The adviser will also
serve a directional role for and connect students to accessibility services via the main
campus Disability and Assistive Technology Center (DATC) staff. The adviser also
serves a directional role in connecting students who wish to use Veteran education
benefits with the School Certifying Official.
• The adviser will perform administrative and related support duties for campus
recruitment and retention efforts and programs. This includes meeting with
prospective students, participating in registration and enrollment events,
orientation, STAR, and any activities related to recruitment and retention of new and
