Description: The Academic Advising Center & Career Services at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse seeks a candidate to join our team, within the Division of Academic Affairs, and serve as an Academic Advisor.

The Academic Advisor reports to the Director of Academic Advising Center & Career Services, and works as part of a proactive advising team to serve students who are undecided about their major and career options and first-year students with declared majors. The range of responsibilities include working with students to assist and assess academic needs and performance, advising students regarding course planning and major/career exploration, planning and presenting outreach programs, developing educational materials, partnering with advising staff and faculty, assisting with training and mentoring of peer advisors and graduate students.  

The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to multiculturalism, diversity and inclusive excellence, and an ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

This is a full-time, 12 month annual position.

Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field required by start date.
• Experience working with college students on academic and career related concerns.
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated expertise in using office software packages, email, and student record systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to prioritize and utilize good time management practices
• Ability to gather and synthesize information from a variety of sources.
• Ability to be thorough, consistent, and accurate in the interpretation of policies.
• Knowledge of UW-L academic policies and procedures preferred.
