Employer Relations Coordinator (Official title:
Associate Student Services Coordinator)
The University of
Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Academic Staff
position in the Career Center. The Employee
Relations Coordinator (Associate Student Services Coordinator) position will
facilitate and support student-centered action initiatives, provide leadership
and guidance to students, and to model inclusiveness and collaboration. The
position will effectively establish and cultivate relationships with employers
to assist UW-Parkside students in gaining internships and employment. In
addition, this position will assist students in assessing their career interests
and skills and advise students regarding job search strategies. This position
will also act as liaison and support for campus departments in their efforts to
develop and implement programs and services that foster an inclusive community.
Some off-campus travel required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and cultivate relations with
employers in Southeast Wisconsin and Northeastern Illinois to facilitate
consideration of UW-Parkside current students for internships and graduating
students for full-time professional employment. Meet with employers to discuss
recruiting objectives, increase awareness of UWP programs and introduce services
available. Maintain data base of employer contacts/information. Provide
information on students/curriculum/programs to assist potential employers in
meeting their needs.
- Assist students in determining career and
advising focus; utilize assessment tools as needed. Assess students' skills and
interests to maximize major and career development and employment potential.
Advise students on an individual and group basis regarding job search strategies
including major decision making, resume preparation, interviewing, locate
prospective employers, etc.
- Collaborate with Advising and Career Center
staff and communicate opportunities to other staff, students and faculty. Use a
vareity of marketing techniques to gain student interest. Utilize technology as
warranted.
- Promote employer/University dialogue by
collaborating with faculty, University Relations, professional and community
organizations.
- Participation in campus committees or
attendance at student club events.
- Other duties as assigned including assistance
with the collection and compilation of data and statistics for advising and
yearly survey of graduates.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate
with diverse students having a variety of major and employment interests.
- Knowledge of advising techniques, theory, job
search techniques and employers' recruiting methods.
- Ability to interact with faculty, staff,
students and employment community.
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve
problems or concerns.
- Ability to work independently and with a team
of colleagues.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize
multiple work assignments and projects.
- Working knowledge of word processing,
spreadsheet, email and database applications.
- Working knowledge of time management techniques
and practices.
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve
problems or concerns.
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed
records.
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement
strategies to encourage student participation in various programs and
events.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct presentations.
- Knowledge of problem
solving and conflict resolution techniques.
- Demonstrated ability
to interpret and apply regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures;
analyze work and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, human resources,
communication or related area.
- Two to four years of experience in college
relations, university career center, marketing or related field.
- Experience in program management.
- Experience in marketing programs.
- Proficient in software applications such as
Microsoft Suite (MS Word, Excel, Power Point), etc.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Career Counseling or in
business, human resources, communication or related area.
Salary:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
